GUBI ADNET MIRROR CIRCULAIRE

Notes & Details

An icon of mid-century French modernism, Jacques Adnet was one of the first designers to combine metal, glass and leather. That material contrast is perfectly exemplified by his hanging Adnet Mirror (1946), which was inspired by the work he was doing at that time for Hermés.

The simplicity of the design – a single circle of glass, hung by a durable leather strap – is balanced by the warmth of the leather, making it a modern piece that can suit virtually any interior. Adnet knew the unique position that he and the other modernists occupied in history, poised on the cutting edge of something entirely new. He saw himself as both “innovator and classicist, an advocate for the tradition that leads us into the future," and his mirror, reissued by Gubi in 2011, reflects the timelessness of his work.

This year Gubi released a new colour: olive green, which is available in the medium size.
