Related posts:![]() Cool…margarete hauslerThis year at Maison et Objet, Margarete Hausler’s cushion designs were featured in this year’s ‘Trend” section. Now we aren’t about trends here at Eclectic Cool, preferring to stick with designs that are tried and true but with a bit of a twist. However, I think her cushions are here to stay. Simply made, Margarete’s design have subtle details that give them a unique twist. The soft linen is washed with natural dye, creating an ombre effect. I love the natural quality of the pillows, which look great en mass but also look good slotted into more formal settings, giving a rustic edge both pleasing to the eye and fingers. I am also totally in love with the large shopper totes. I have been staring at them for a couple of days in the store and I still can’t decide which colour I want. Classic and edgy black or bright yellow? Hmmm…to be continued….

Related posts:![]() Introducing…PurestHave you ever been frozen in a building in HK? Steaming hot outside but frigid inside? We’re all about practicality with bit of luxury thrown in here at Eclectic Cool and we have the answer to your problem… We are so lucky to introduce PUREst to you. A range of beautiful stoles and scarves, created by Patrick Garbini, a Swiss, Purest uses the finest fibres from inner Mongolia which is then woven with precision in Nepal. It is finally hand-finished in Milan. Quality, luxury and understated design are the hallmarks of these beautiful stoles. You can read more about the brand here, but you don’t really need to- come into the store to see and touch this gorgeous product. It comes in a stylish bag to protect your scarf from unnecessary wear and tear. I am taking mine on holiday this easter to Sri Lanka, to cuddle on the plane and then protect me from the harsh sun. There are scarves for men and kids too! We’ve added a few products online but PUREst is best experienced in the store- we’re looking forward to showing you…

Related posts:![]() We’ve been a bit quiet…We’ve been a bit quiet here, beavering away on our new store in Po Hing Fong. We are opening our doors on Saturday, but the joinery and fittings won’t be in for around 3 weeks- so excuse our pop-up store appearance. However, we have lights, lovely clean walls and floor- what else do you need? If you are around Po Hing Fong this Saturday, come and say hi. You can give me a hand unpacking boxes. While you are there, check out Po’s Atelier, a new artisan bakery a few doors away. With delicious crusty bread and lovely pastries, I am going to find it hard to stay away. And, best of all, a new chef called David will be starting lunch in around 2 weeks. I asked him what the menu was like and he said ‘modern- like Donna Hay but more masculine’. Hmm, where we’re from that’s called ‘Modern Australian’, US expat David!!! Oh well, who cares what it is called, I am looking forward to some great food! (a far cry from those Marks & Spencer’s frozen meals I’ve been eating in that food desert we call Ap Lei Chau). Anyway, looking forward to you wandering in soon… Eclectic Cool G/F 58 Po Hing Fong Sheung Wan Open Wednesday to Sunday 12-6 Finally, I forgot to mention, Sydney expat Samantha Wagner, has just opened her first HK store, SAMBAG, right round the corner from us in Po Yan Street. She is most famous for her ballet flats but I love her cashmere hoodies- just the thing for that cool (by cool I mean cold, not hip) plane ride. SAMBAG 6 Po Yan Street Open everyday 11-7pm

![]() patience pleaseI very rarely talk about personal stuff on this blog. However in this case, I have to make an exception. I returned from a fabulous holiday/buying trip to some very sad news. A friend of mine is seriously ill. I have been spending quite a bit of time with her so the store opening has been slightly delayed. A few of you who may follow my Facebook page or Tumblr will have noticed that the store is coming together, albeit very slowly. We will be opening on September 7 from 12 to 6. Due to staffing issues, I am going to have to close on Mondays but of course you are welcome to contact me to make an appointment and of course, you can shop online 24/7. See you at the store and back to regular blogging next week!!!!

Related posts:![]() Cool… MYdrapMYDrap is a Spanish brand of table linen with twist. Instead of tired old linen becomes yellowed and stained with time, this linen comes on a roll so that you can rip off the exact quantity that you need. It can be washed and reused up to 5 times so this linen becomes extremely cost effective, working out to be a few cents per use. Made from completely biodegradable, compostable and recyclable 100% cotton, MYDrap’s linens are great for the environment too.
