![]() 18th C dog kennelWhile in New York recently at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I came across an original 18th Century french interior. The contents belonged to Marie Antoinette and were made by some of the top french furniture designers of the time, including the dog kennel situated in top left corner near the window. I started to wonder about the type of dog that MA would have had and what it would have seen and heard. Apparently MA owned a particular type of spaniel breed, called the Papillon (butterfly) named after those very cute ears that are pictured! I do think this dog really suits this kennel- what do you think? 9 April 2011
