Daisy’s beautiful head piece and hand jewels
Some of the brooches Jordan wears are originals from the period
Gatsby’s cufflinks and Daisy’s hair clip were designed for the movie
Gatsby’s signet ring with a daisy motif symbolized his undying love for Daisy images via the great gatsby
I don’t know where I would wear these to but I would be sure to find an occasion. images via tiffany Related posts:![]() Cool..gatsby jewelsI did enjoy seeing the Great Gatsby in 3D the other evening. The movie was great but the jewels were even better. Set designer,Catherine Martin, combed the Tiffany archives to find pieces that expressed the moods and feelings of the characters as well as the hedonistic period in time that the novel is set. The jewels were all real and this had an effect in on how the characters moved and carried themselves. Anyone who has ever worn truly beautiful jewels will know exactly how this feels! Even the teaset used in the garden scene was inspired by the archives. The rosewood handles, copper rivets and jade finials will ensure that you drink your tea in style. I think it is around USD35000 for the set. You can look at the Tiffany website for more Gatsby inspired designs.

Images by eclectic cool One of Malin’s fabulous neckpieces which sits perfectly around your neck. Image by Malin Ohlsson Related posts:![]() Cool…Malin OhlssonIf you have time, pop into Eclectic Cool this month to view HK/Swedish jewellery artist, Malin Ohlsson‘s new collection. Malin designs and hand makes her jewellery, right here in Hong Kong at local jewellery workshop, Hatton Studios in Sheung Wan. Her designs reference her Scandinavian roots and are carefully conceived to be as individual as the wearer. They are beautifully crafted to fit perfectly on your body and suit your lifestyle. Each piece can be custom made in your choice of silver or gold, and you can even add diamonds or other gemstones if you wish. I ordered a beautiful necklace from the Homesickness collection of New South Wales, the state of Australia that I am from. To most it looks like an abstract shape set with a champagne diamond but to me it is imbued with the feelings and memories of home. Malin’s collection will be in store this June. 9 June 2013

fashion images via netaporter Related posts:![]() Cool…global traveller trendThe boho world traveller trend seem to show now sign of abating. The inclusion of exotic textiles in interiors has also become a trend, suzanis, ikats, even linens remind us of international travels. Net-a-porter had a huge spread on summer travels which you can take a look at here- it made me want to jump on a plane. For me, I love an exotic textile whether it be to wear or display. I’m tired of black and winter tones, roll on summer. 18 March 2012

Luscious hand cut jade pieces and other semi precious stones, mixed with precious materials: grey diamonds and gold- these pieces are substantial and striking and will give any look a touch of distinction. Love, love, love. Check out her new show at Sin Sin Annexe, 52 Sai Street, Sheung Wan Tuesday , 27th and Wednesday 28th March 2012 And, as with all her shows, Sandra donates all her profits to charity- isn’t that a great excuse to treat yourself to a new spring piece. 15 March 2012

images by eclectic cool Related posts:![]() COOL STORE…MERCI, PARISMerci is a cool lifestyle and fashion store. Off the Boulevard Beaumarchais, it is a design haven. When I visited a couple of days ago, they had a fabulous selection of products for bicycle enthusiasts, including the most beautiful and stylish bicycles you have ever seen as well as lots of gorgeous accessories. It almost made me wish I could ride around Hong Kong ( I said almost).
I love the design department on the 2nd floor. They have such cute things, I could have bought everything. They also have a great selection of bedlinen- just like Society bedlinen, but much cheaper! They also have a lovely café where you can peruse books and watch the world go by. And best of all, Merci donates 100% of its profits to women’s charities. There is nothing more stylish than that. Open 11am to 7pm 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais, 3e 3 February 2012
these are original georgian collet necklaces. their range in price from around GBP 12000 to 25000 (for paste!!!)
Related posts:![]() Cool…collet necklacesThe collet necklace or ‘riviere’ necklace means literally a ‘river of light’. Rivieres were made out of graduated collet set stones. Typical of the Georgian period, they could be made with real stones or with paste. Paste riviere necklaces are usually foiled and set in silver or gold. They were the customary necklace to wear in the evening in the Georgian period as their flashing colours would catch the candlelight and show off a ladies neck and décolletage to the best advantage. Many of these Georgian period necklaces still exist as they were not remade into more contemporary styles. They are highly collectable and suit the most fashionable of wardrobes. Eclectic Cool is now stocking collet necklacesmade of Swarovski crystals and set in a high quality metal mount by Duchessa. They come in a rainbow of colours. They are around HKD 1400 (USD 179). They have been increasingly popular, due to their adoption by Vogue editor. Anna Wintour, who along with her glossy bob, is never seen without her collet necklaces. Like her, wear them stacked! 12 January 2012

BY THE WAY…THIS IS MY 300th POST!!! 12 January 2012
I really fancy this bracelet, given to Elizabeth Taylor by Edith Head. Made of old opera disc passes, it is gorgeous. If it goes for $2000, I’ll eat my hat.

This is the end of a world tour, taking in London, Moscow, Dubai, Los Angeles, Paris and Geneva. Starting December 3 to December 16, 2011, Christie’s New York will devote its entire Rockefeller Center gallery space. The lines are meant to be massive (hence my excitement at being invited to the private view) so if you can make it, get there early!
