Cool…designer Michael Young

Design is all around us, from a broom to a chair to a dog kennel. I have always enjoyed the colour and humor of Michael Young’s designs.   Thus,   I was very excited to learn about his exhibition at the Space in Sheung Wan. Michael Young, a British born industrial designer, has worked for many of the largest design companies such as Magis, Capellini and Trussardi.

Young established studios in London, Brussels and Reykjavik and has now established a studio in Sheung Wan working in both mainland China as well as Hong Kong.

You can see an interior of Young’s  (together with Alexei Robinson) here in Hong Kong at The Night Market, a Taiwanese restaurant in Stanley Street.

This exhibition coincides with the launch of a new product design book: ‘Works in China’ by John Heskett, which follows Young’s design process, from brief to concept to realisation.

Young’s exhibition has been extended until the 23rd July 2011.  Make sure you don’t miss it.
